There is currently a wide spread power outage in Bellevue/Seattle impacting Steam Server availability. Unfortunately ETA for when the power will be restored is unknown as the power company will only work on restoring it once the storm has eased and the high winds have died down.

Any issues you are experiencing with connecting to Steam are only temporary, as this isn't an end-user issue.

In the business we call this a "single point of failure." I wonder if Gabe ever thought, "Gee. If our lone authentication servers ever lose power, then almost nobody will be able to play any Steam games!"

I imagine his thinking was more along the lines of "Gee. If our lone authentiMMMMMM BON BONS"

This kind of shit is why I don't like Steam. Steam server loses power, you lose access to games you paid for.

Gabe taketh away.

Yea, i also don't like how they can inexpensively distribute games via steam. so they . . . CHARGE JUST AS MUCH.


I also don't like how if someone hacks your account, and gets you banned, there is no recourse whatsoever. Not even some difficult quest i could pursue. Nothing.

So instead of my games being protected by the lock on my door, my cat, and my gun, it's protected by a password. mmmk.

The locked door and the gun I can deal with, but a guard cat?!?!?! Fuck that, your shit is safe for the moment.

Apparently since this has happened, servers everywhere are lagging at times.

Netcode seems to have been fucked up too. (moreso than normal)
