btw, my account was hijacked (why it wasn't working) and the dastardly person got me banned on every half-life 1 related game.

Dude these are the same guys that released a malisious patch right before cz came out so they would sell more cz accounts.

Robert,
I am sorry about what happend to your account.
A VAC ban applies to the account regardless of who was using the account at the time.
It does not matter if you let someone use the account, or if the account was being used without your knowledge. It is your responsibility to safeguard your account against such activities.
I'm sorry but the account will not be unbanned.
Please refer to the Steam Subscriber Agreement and the Rules of Steam Online Conduct if you wish to review our policy regarding this matter.

How long do bans last?
And you don't even lift them if you guys verify it as hijacked?
I've been a valve customer for five years, I even bought Condition Zero, and I specifically went to the trouble of figuring out what was wrong with my steam account so I could play Condition Zero and a bit of Source. Would it be possible to get a free subscription to CZ at least? It says in section 4.E of the subscriber agreement sometimes valve gives them out.
Section 5 of the subscriber agreements clearly has me agreeing that if 'I' use cheats, valve may disallow my use of certain multiplayer games. And that's fine, I agree to that. But throughough the entire paragraph, it uses the term "you" and never references my account.
So while I agreed to be responsible for the activity on my account, I never agreed nor acknowledged that a ban could be in order for "cheats" used by an unknown 3rd party on my account.
Had I known I would have to watch over the entire population of hackers and cheaters and prevent them from using cheats on my account, I might have used a more secure password, or perhaps not have agreed to use steam at all, since combatting hackers is a rather tall order for a single gamer.
Thank you, Pete, for your time. I sincerely hope we can come to a pleasent conclusion of all this mess.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Pate
