oh yeah. i just remembered that playing bf2 cost me a lot more if you include upgrades and addons. i wanted to play bf2 but i knew i would need a new video card. so i bought one for about $150. but the card didnt work with my motherboard and my computer was basically falling apart at the time so i had to buy more parts and build almost a whole new computer. i got a new motherboard, heatsink, ram, case, and power supply. then i had to buy the game. i did manage to find that used and still working fine for $30 though. and then $20 for sf and $10 for eu. so to play bf2 i spent $600-$700. i would have to play even for a long time before it costs as much as bf2 did.

That argument is flawed as your comp is not solely used for BF2, nor was it only upgraded for BF2. It was upgraded because BF2 was the first game that had the requirements of newer hardware then what you currently had.

I am with you in that regard, I upgraded "so that i could play bf2" but in reality, I upgraded because my computer was 4 years old and falling apart. BF2 was merely the incentive catalyst. The cost of BF2 for you was $30+20+10 = $60... The cost to me was $49.99.

Agreed, Smith. I, too, upgraded because my stuff was getting old, not specifically for BF2.

Raughb, I see your points. I have nothing against Eve or any pay-to-play game, nor against people who choose to play them (except Brady and WoW lawl). I'm sure they're great. I will never pay more than once to play a game though, as a matter of principle. But that's just me.

In all, to get BF2 running, I paid $50.

And my computer is the crappiest one here, I guarantee.

I enjoy them about the same, as well. So if I played BF2 for the next 6 months, and you stuck with Eve, you'd be paying $71 but I'd be paying nothing.
