Positron's cable ISP sucks. He can't play games. Does DSL work at all for gaming?

DSL here is/was superior in every way to cable. Lower latency, better average throughput, higher uptime. In my experience, it's also had lower latency than FIOS, but I'd take 50ms ping for a 20/20 Mbit line again in a heartbeat.

It'll probably do fine for servers as well unless you're too far from the DSLAM. Around here, cable and DSL have about the same upload speeds.

I use ATnT Uverse. I highly recommend it. Great pings, great DVR. I used to have the highest data package which downloaded steam games at 1400k in some cases. I am pretty sure it is a fiber/DSL mix. On a side note I always preferred DSL to cable. However my only cable internet provider was Charter. Don't use them.

I had Qwest 5mb dsl. Vastly better then my 10mb (to one server in chicago...not so much elsewhere) cable I have now. Moved about 5 miles last fall and I guess that put me on a different DSL hub, which couldnt support any more users so had to go cable. Fuck you Mediacom.

Ya location has more to do with it than anything.

Lol. Charter is the predecessor to the cable company in question.

My internet has decided to start working again. I know neither why nor for how long, but in the meantime, it's refreshing to be able to play games again.

Though I doubt it'll still work tomorrow.
