So I played on the Other map...

Holy fudge is it huge.... I had to use the bottom rung on the SCope site to hit people. Thank gosh I had a 12x scope.

Got to fly a helicopter. But didn't realize the Y axis was flipped so I only got to kill one tank before getting shot. The helicopter has warning messages on things that have failed. So it breaks down instead of just has smoke coming from it. Like my engine was damaged so it had less power.

The stinger missile vs Helicopters is OK. takes 2 shots.
Stinger vs plane ... never hit :(

The jeep was awesome but the bar was in my way. And it feels more.

only played 2 rounds till they changed the password but it was fun... A different play type on the larger map.

I played other map for about 14-20 minutes last night. Took me only about 2 minutes before I realized "Hey! There's jets here to be shot down!" and then spent the rest of the time trying to stomp pre-emptive jet-whores. The rockets track well, corner well, and have a respectable speed compared to jet top speed.

With the AA rockets you must first be within range of the aircraft (best guess about 2 km max distance). Bring up sights and start tracking the target and u'll get a beeping which will turn to solid tone when locked. The only tricky part is when to actually launch: After pulling the trigger the initial charge will 'pop' and propel the warhead out of the tube and good 100-200m from you, then the rocket will ignite and start tracking the target for a limited time/distance. If the jet is flying towards you when you pop, by the time the rocket starts tracking the jet will be past, the rocket will need to do a 180, and you'll not hit dick. Wait for the jet to fly past and just as it's overhead, pop the rocket shifting your aim just ahead of the jet's current flight path.


This should all be rather intuitive, so hopefully that was an overly long explanation. I was hitting with about 9 of 10 rockets this way...im sure it'll drop after people get flares, but still not bad.


Jets were taking me about 3 hits each to drop, less if they were dogfighting (i.e. friendly jets also hitting them, me assisting friendly air). Helo's were about 2-3 hits each, but they can't dodge for shit.

If you're in battle-log and look at the "news" tabs, the last couple updates from the dev's (3 and 4 i think) have been about updating the server browser issues, trying to make them better. They're slapping band-aids on it constantly it looks like (really not re-writing, just trying to make it work better....i guess thats most program development though).

No. The way EA is doing the DLC would violate the Steam distribution contract. It requires Origin, but they'll be selling it through other DD sites as well, similar to how Steamworks games are usually done.

yea I was upset at first too but then I realized that any monopoly, even by Valve, is probably not a good thing. And of the 2 major players, I prefer EA to Activision anyway. Of course, Activision already has their own store anyway. So this is really nothing new.

I'm OK buying on origin and running it within the steam overlay. :)
