axehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4o2LnV2 ... re=related hrm. they're turning it into L4D: Arcade mode. since when is a frying pan a decent zombie weapon? I'm pretty sure if you hit ME over the head with one I'd drop but probably not go unconscious and definitely not die immediately. These zombies can take 5 rounds of 9mm but only one frying pan? mmk. CASE IN POINT: Quote:
GARNER, Iowa (AP) -- A northern Iowa woman accused of trying to kill her mother with a frying pan has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Valerie Hasbrouck of Ventura is accused of hitting her 81-year-old mother, Tressa Waddingham, four times with a frying pan in December. According to court documents, Waddingham played dead. Hasbrouck called authorities, reporting she had just come to her mother's house and found it burglarized and her mother dead. Court records show that when authorities arrived, Waddingham wasn't dead, and she identified her daughter as the attacker Hasbrouck is being held in the Hancock County jail in Garner on $200,000 bond. |

New update today (16Jul09): [-]July 16, 2009 - Left 4 Dead Update Released Left 4 Dead has been updated to include a lobby browser. The lobby browser (under Play Online) will show you a list of optimal games available for you to join. The browser pares down the thousands of lobbies and games currently being played to show you the best list of games available to you. This list includes official and add-on campaigns, including add-on campaigns you have not yet installed, making it a great way to discover them. You can filter by difficulty, official and/or add-on campaigns and by lobbies and/or games in progress. The specific changes include: Left 4 Dead The Play on Steam Group Server screen now displays which Steam group it's searching while updating the list After calling a vote to change difficulty in game it is now correctly updated in matchmaking Add-on Campaigns When downloading a new version of an add-on and installing it (by double clicking the .VPK file), it will now correctly overwrite the pervious version, even while Left 4 Dead is currently running Addressed a crash when two mission files with the same name are installed Steam Group Servers now will now correctly offer download links when running add-on campaigns Server The server will now warn if the public or private tags exceed their limits. Public tags are limited to 63 characters. Private tags used for matchmaking are now limited to 1024 characters. Note that the private tags include the name of each add-on campaign installed on the server, so an excessive number of add-on campaigns can hit this limit SDK The VPK tool should be able to handle campaigns larger than 500MB now You can now drag and drop or pass a VPK file to the vpk.exe tool to have it extract the contents of the add-on to a folder. This mirrors the functionality of passing a folder and having it create a VPK file Detail.vbsp and lights.rad have been added to the distribution |

Just played through a good, quality, user-made campaign. It's only got 3 levels done so far but it makes for about 1h of new coop gameplay. Advanced difficulty for the average player....might be possible on expert, but very difficult. Back to School: http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=76 |

Quote: "The primary goal of 'Crash' is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns," the company explained. "A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay."
interesting!!!

Played through another quality user-made campaign over the weekend: "Heaven Can Wait" http://www.l4dmods.com/index.php?option ... kageId=612 It's a fully completed campaign with no noticable bugs. Very difficult (normal diff. had a decent challenge to it, advanced would probably = 1-3 wipes, exp. would be impossible). Starts in woodland/farms, moves to city, then to military base. First level or two are decent, but they add in a LOT of custom textures/objects the further it goes. Several areas (espically in the city) are extremely expansive and you could spend a LOT of time just exploring, but it makes for a fun campaign-mode map (dont know that it'll work well for vs.). |

I'm more then willing if I'm around again....as for the campaign...the end is much more traditional (as opposed to the HUGE end area and hot air balloon) and there's no sideways ship. All around much more traditional, just can get confusing due to the expansiveness and unclear what direction to go all the time. |

In the event of a zombie apocalypse do that absolute minimum to look like you're helping, just to keep up appearances. Horde critical supplies. Quickly abandon the attempt to rescue any survivors in the region; especially if survivors are an unlikely collection of social extremes. When region stabilizes loot, pillage, and rape at will. |

Agreed. First level tanks are like Petergraves. They claim to be all hetero with their wives and kids and such, but we all know. After the 1st level I say game on (as there are tier 2's from then on somewhere in the level, and most 2nd levels arent as difficult as the 1st from the survivor perspective). |
