Not so much the console part, but certainly the gaming friends part. He's made that abundantly clear in quite a few of his reviews.

Or maybe he tried to play online but EA's servers were down :p.

not taking personal offense. I make it pretty clear when i take personal offense. I'm just disappointed my favorite video game reviewer isn't 100% awesome all the time. Guess this puts him at about 95% accurate. sigh.

Let me tell you a story.

I was being an engineer, trying to attack the defenders last crate in Valdez. Well, they somehow got us pinned down in our base after stealing our tank, and I was taking shelter in this building.

Then the UAV came through the door, smoking heavily. It spots me, and goes all wild in front of me, going up and down, sideways, bumping me, and so.
"The hell are you doing? Get off. Stop tha-"
I lose my hearing. The wall behind me was blown to pieces. Then the building gets hit with all sorts of gunfire. Apparently, the UAV was going crazy on the defenders, slaying them like the fist of a vengeful god, and now everyone was after him. I quickly realize that he needed a repair, and I do it after moving to a new cover, while the walls are being blasted all around us.

I finish repairing the drone, and we get out of the building as it comes crumbling down. The first thing the UAV does is take out a guy behind me with it's machinegun, and shoots our stolen tank with it's missile, and I shoot him with my Gustav. It isn't enough to kill the tank, but the driver hops out, me still handling with my weapons, and the UAV takes him out too.

I then proceed to repair that tank and blast through their defenses, as the UAV proceeds to shoot anyone that gets left behind me, trying to C4 me. I hop out of the tank next to point A as the tank gets blasted to pieces, and I prime the charge. At this point, we won't be able to arm it again if it gets defused. We defend the charge by ourselves, me and the UAV up in the skies, and finally I am shot dead by this shotgun fellow. He then proceeds to disarm the charge that just begins the final countdown and gets shot a few times by the UAV - but his gun overheats, after killing so many defenders! It's a defeat, it won't cool down fast enough...

AND THEN THE UAV PROCEEDS TO SMASH ITSELF ON THE DISARMER, ROADKILLING THE DEFUSER AND STARTING TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL, EXPLODING TO PIECES AT THE SAME TIME AS THE STATION BLASTS TO SMITHEREENS

Although there was no video, I was inspired by your story and changed my UAV tactics a bit tonight. Tried more low and quick movements, more jumping around. Resulted in more misses with my missles and less time before i got shot down, but actually was averageing 2-3 kills per UAV (Average is anywhere from 0 (on a server with observent enemy) to 10+). I'm a fan of it though...feel more like a part of the team working in close.

I did sneak behind the lines with one and found a heavy machinegun that was shooting at me. I teached him a lesson by road killing him BWUHAHAHAHA!

Also I was killed by the repair tool as a normal soldier wtf.

That's a fine story dime. I would have liked to have seen it done. I parked the UAV safely in a shed last night. I was having an off night, so that's really the only thing of note I accomplished.

It's opposite day for punkbuster. Do NOT SELECT punkbuster if you want to join a punkbuster ON server.

Do not use Refresh, use Search. (refresh takes just as long but sometimes crashes the game.)

well this patch actually seems relevant. Fixed a lot of stuff I have been bitching about. I wish my problem with 3-8 sec freeze after bomb plant would be solved though.

Hot damn! I am excited to look through a machine-gun window. Also about the other highlighted forthcoming improvements.

Protips: Did you know that if you press and hold the fire button whilst sniping you stay in the scope and can watch where the round hits? Apparently this was in BF2 also, and most people know about it already but it makes a marked difference in 'dialing in' ranges and figuring out how/where to hit enemies at distance.

Did you know that you don't need line-of-sight to lock onto a tracer-darted tank? Maybe everybody knows this too, but you don't even need to leave cover to acquire it. You can train your RPG or Hot Carl onto the marker, wait until the outer square appears, then when the distance in meters shows up just below the square you can aim anywhere (within reason) and hit it. This sounds like stating the obvious maybe, but a deadly effective strategy is to acquire lock as shown above, and then fire your rocket straight up. It ends up impacting on top of the tank more often than not, which seems to do more damage than hitting it flush from the front or side. I think it's a similar principle to the javelin in Modern Warfare, which launches, climbs into the sky, maneuvers over the target and then falls like the fist of an angry god, using momentum/gravity/its own thrust to punch through. Also, it seems that the RPG does a bit more damage than the Hot Carl when used this way. But that might need more testing to be sure.

Significantly increased the speed of the Tracer Dart projectile to make it more effective against airborne targets.
Increased the reload time of the Mortar Strike and reduced the damage it does to heavily armored vehicles.
Decreased the range of Bolt Action Sniper and Pump Shotgun Slug rounds when using Magnum Ammo for better Kit Balance, especially in Hardcore.
Slightly increased the Health of soldiers in Hardcore for better Kit Balance.

Increased the benefit from the Medkit Heal+ specialization to make it more desirable as a Specialization.
Decreased the benefit from Vehicle Reload Speed to balance it against other Vehicle Specializations.
Slightly decreased the benefit from accuracy specializations to balance the changes to range and accuracy tweaks.


Fixed a bug where the BMD3 would take extra damage to the front armor.
Reduced the explosive damage from Attack Helicopter cannons.
Increased the damage of AA guns against all targets. The AA gun should be much more effective against infantry on Port Valdez.

These changes will eventually make their way to the 360 and PS3 as we work with our partners Microsoft and Sony to continue to support BFBC2 on all platforms.

all around looks like a good list of changes. I'm not a huge fan of making every gun 100% equal (seems like that's the expressed trend, and at that time all you're getting is a different skin for the exact same gun...). Balancing = good, but should be done through rock/paper/sissors, not rock/rock/rock.

And make the ACOG worth a damn. Nobody uses the acog...

No BOOOO. There's gotta be an arming range to those bastards or something, I'm tired of getting dropped by some asshole's splash damage.
It did need fixing, and I'm glad it's fixt, but rest assured Hapy, I've still been killed plenty with the 40mm since it was nerfed. They're still plenty lethal, just not the chapstick-case nukes they were before. I can't really speak on the blast radius of the CG, but I seem to still get killed handily with those as well.
As far as arming range, at least for the 40mm there always was one. My own suckitude allowed me to discover this one night on a hardcore server with no crosshairs. I thought I was standing sufficiently outside my cover, and fired one. It said "ploonk---ping" as the shell hit the rock outcropping in front of me and fell harmlessly to the ground. My bewildered staring at the grenade allowed a sniper bitch to line me up and pop me.

Doesn't seem to have changed much on the 40mm. I can however see through the heavy machine gun sights now. It rocks.
Anyone understand what the spotter scope does exactly?
