solution? Penalty does not take affect if you leave your current game for another game or lobby where you have a steam friend.
I'm a fan Agent...I'd love to see that instituted. Last I remember seeing it was back in the Starcraft 1 & Warcraft 3 days on bnet, where your stats were simply Number of Wins/Number of Losses/Number of disconnects. Was too easy to check everyone when they entered your game lobby and boot those with high percentage of disconnects.
Agent's solution is a good one, but is it hard to cross-track that an remove/prevent said penalty from applying?

Just tag the steam account as they exit the server and ban from connecting to 'game search' server for 5 min. If they join off their friends list they shouldnt have to connect to the game search server (or application, or piece of coding, or whatever it is that does that).

I think if there were special infected bots on versus mode, then the 5th and 6th players would have more fun. I would play infected by myself against 4 survivors all day long if i had bot teammates, and could take over for the bots when I died!

Sadly an M60? These days (in a current apocolpyse) you're much more likely to come across an M249 or M240. And 200 rounds for it? M60's are belt fed only, with no kind of holding bag/box. 200 rounds of 7.62mm chain-link is a friggen shitton of weight (not to mention trying to feed it all without twisting the belt and jamming).

Lastly why am I bitching? Because I can, I can't play games online, and I'm bored as fuck (and mildly drunk).

And while I'm at it, the fucking M16 with a 50 round clip? Everyone and their mom only has 30 round clips for it. Vietnam era has 20 rds, but those are almost vintage antiques now, and although you can buy 40 rd clips, they're expensive and look gay as hell.

Don't you have to carry around an extra barrel too?

For extended shooting yes, plus some special gloves to change it. For 200 rounds you're good with just 1 barrel, but 500+ you'll want to change it out (takes a couple minutes; overheated barrels lead to run-away guns [the gun keeps firing without the trigger depressed because the barrel is so hot it causes the gunpowder in the rounds to ignite]). There's a reason any dismounted 7.62mm machine gun is done as a 2-3 man crew, it's a shit-ton of weight (between ammo, barrels, etc) to carry, and is most effective when operated as a team (one guy aims and shoots, the other keeps the ammo belt straight and links in additional belts as necessary).

Zipped and sent

We should put together a montage and then post it to the steam forums so that they can tell us how stupid we are.

Anyway, in the video you should make it clear that, "Since the insta gib mutation is SO easy we decided to add a higher degree of difficulty."

yea, that's what I had in mind. Like the scene trying to get you to jump, some scenes where the blind person is actually killing stuff, or standing blindly by while people get pummeled, or just missing a witch.

What i need help on is a title for it. Something succinct.

We are starting a new feature for PC players this week. Bi-weekly community campaigns!

Vote this week is for next week's mutation!

Boot up l4d2 and vote for Hard Eight, the one where special infected basically spawn twice as fast, in big groups.

also next week is a new featured community map. hopefully better than the last one.

Update: 08.22.2010] Valve has reportedly told PC Gamer that "The Sacrifice" will launch on October 5. The PC and Mac version will launch for free while the Xbox 360 version will cost 560MS Points ($7). According to PC Gamer, the Mac version will launch on October 5. Shacknews has contacted Valve to confirm the Xbox 360 version of the DLC will release alongside the PC and Mac.

[Original: 08.21.2010] Last night on GameTrailers TV, Valve's Chet Faliszek revealed info on upcoming downloadable content for those still waging war on the zombie threat.

(Note: The GTTV video contains spoilers on "The Passing" DLC.)

Faliszek revealed a new downloadable content pack, dubbed "The Sacrifice," is coming to both the original Left 4 Dead and its sequel, Left 4 Dead 2. A precursor to the previous DLC "The Passing," the upcoming pack will tell the story of how the original Left 4 Dead team lost one of its team members to the zombie outbreak.

Since Valve was already busy bringing the original team to Left 4 Dead 2 in order to tell the story in "Sacrifice," Faliszek said the team decided to bring a fan favorite campaign from the original game into its sequel. "No Mercy" will be included in the upcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 players, adding the sequel's game mechanics to the popular original campaign. Presumably (according to footage shown in the interview), players will now be able to choose any character from the Left 4 Dead series in the sequel's multiple campaigns.

Faliszek also discussed a 150-page digital comic that will be released in four parts prior to the launch of "The Sacrifice." The comic will delve into the past of the original survivors and feature the "real" ending to "The Sacrifice" DLC.

Although those who have played "The Passing" DLC are aware of the fallen survivor's true identity, Faliszek says players can choose which of the original cast 'meets their maker' in the upcoming downloadable content.

The downloadable content will be available on the PC for free and will be added to the upcoming Mac version of the game. Xbox 360 owners will have to fork over an unknown amount of Microsoft Space Dollars to get the content. No firm release date was mentioned in the feature.

That's great news.
Why hasn't there been more ports of the original maps to the second game?
It seems like a natural fit.

they've been BZY, spck.

anyway, here is the Interview with Chet on Gametrailers TV previously mentioned.

And a bit more from PC Gamer, my favorite magazine of old.

Also, our dear friends Turtle Rock (makers of CS:CZ and L4d1 and Leep Sheep [iphone only]), are the ones working on the DLC!!

I thought I'd heard Turtle Rock was the accidental creators of L4D when they had a lot of fun spawning unarmed idiot bots as a tester for server load or something.
If that''s accurate, bringing them back into the fold isn't a bad idea (and CSZ wasn't the worst thing ever).

Post subject:  Re: Left 4 Dead 2

close, superspck. don't you remember that CS mod where the terrorists all had knives only and had like 20 people and then there was just 1 or 2 CTs with guns?

that was the origin of l4d. Turtle Rock had the idea for actually making a zombie game out of it, and things went from there.

but they actually did all or most of the design and development for l4d1. They're also working on CSS now too.

i'm happy, they really haven't put out any bad work, except for cz 1.0 of course. but 1.2 made up for it!!
