i just looked for hardgaming after seeing how bad everyone was on teh server when Brady and i played a earlier today, and found a thread with this gem. http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=102 ... ostcount=7 Quote:
'There were a bevy of reasons for Hardgaming dying. Most notably, Duck's work schedule was uncomprimising and he was gone sometimes for months at a time. I won't even get into the parasites in the community that caused it to be tainted and thus a bittersweet experience ( __ ). '
i dont knwo if he actually meant the underscores, but it's perfection none the less.

Anyone else seen this mod/extension for Battlelog? http://www.coderah.com/ Quote: Battlelog Mods is an extension to your browser that adds functionality to Battlelog, all suggestions are taken into account, if you want anything in Battlelog and DICE just isn’t hearing it let me know and I will do my best to try and get it added!
Worth price of admission for auto-join.Features: Important code updates automatically from the server (minimal to no user interaction required) Adds Auto Join server function to replace the join queue function for full servers (DICE temporarily removed the queue system) Adds “hooah all items” link to the top-right of all feed areas. http://pastebin.com/ycF4YqcT Origin bypass for BF3. Since Origin is technically spyware, this might be a viable alternative to those who don't mind using it (read: people who aren't freaked out by cracks). Can't say what the risk of a ban is, though. EA probably won't take this lying down, since it undermines their whole precious venture into digital distribution. Razor has been around a long, long time, and they have a sterling reputation. Interested to see how this develops. |

Video on use of SOFLAM with Javelins. Seems to be very good application there....also works with guided missles from planes/helos. Seems as though it still requires you to lock on, but benifits are: A) you don't need to see the target to lock on, B) it ignores flares/smoke, and C) you get a damage bonus for hitting with SOFLAM vs. normal locks. If you want to watch the 5 minutes of this other video, it just shows that the SOFLAM does keep doing designations in its' line of sight even if the operator isnt currently using it. The operator needs to connect to it to readjust its' aim if he wants, but active use at all times isnt necessary. |

queuing got added to the server browser. perhaps we should retry party joining to see if that was fixed as well. |

sexy post on the soflam, teaks. thanks. looking forward to using that! i'm happy they've moved the sniper's role more into the spotter role where it belongs. here's something useful from reddit, a weapon damage chart at various distances: source: http://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/co ... apped_out/ spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... WVSQjc0V0E summary: Quote: Thanks for taking the time to do this. Posted my personal observations below.
By the numbers: Support - M240B has lowest TTK Engineer - A-91 probably has best TTK unless in <20m range where it is beat by SCAR-H; M4A1 also has a low TTK Assault - KH2002 is currently great, I found this especially true with the burst fire mode in small maps; F2000, another one of my favorites for assault has a low TTK too Recon - SV98 does the most damage per shot due to being only bolt action rifle tested Pistols - .44 Magnum does the most damage as expected, M1911 comes in at #2 Other - PP-2000 and UMP-45 are a bit on the weak side but I suspect the upcoming patch will change this. Even P90 seems to take a while to kill though its a level 40 unlock, but it does carry 50 rounds. Of course personal preference can beat pure numbers. This doesn't really account for accuracy/spread, recoil, or attachments. Multiply values in spreadsheet by 0.6 to get the stats for hardcore mode. |

Post subject: | Re: dime's Battlefield 3 Thread |
badass video. What I wanted to post about was good squad tactics that seem to work; and the things everyone needs to push for to unlock: 1) Mortar Squad 3 X Support players with Mortars + 1 X Sniper with MAV (the UAV) The MAV auto-spots everything within sight (for the mortar overview only; requires regular 'orange-triangle' spots for everything else) and the mortar guys can light it all the fuck up. Works great on infantry heavy maps, espically when on Rush-Attacker side. If a 2nd squad was in vent an designated to do a ground assault on same point at same time this would break through heavy defense.... 2) Robot Brigade Attack! All [ __ ] deploy engineer robots and attack. Another necessary unlock for all. 3) Anit-Air squad Min. of 3 engineers all carrying anti-air rockets will drop anything. Most pilots will wait for a lock and then the tone of an inbound missle before the drop flares. When they do it breaks the lock of all AA-launchers on them. If you have 3 launchers all target the same plane. #1 fires triggering the flare drop, then #2 both re-lock and fire (as 2 stinger hits will drop any aircraft). Good way of removing any jet-whore faggitry. 4) Anit-Vehicle Squad 2 X Engineers with Javelins (lock-on anti-vehicle rockets) + 1 X Sniper with SOFLAM (Laser-designator) + 1 X Support (to drop ammo for engies) Set up two squads the same way and it's even better as SOFLAM designates for all Engies on the team, not just the squad. Basically the snipers set up SOFLAMS and spot for the engies who hide in the back. Once SOFLAM locks the engies get locks on it and fire away (SOFLAM + Javelin ignores all flares/line of sight and gets damage bonus). Works very well for Rush-Defense on vehicle heavy maps. Also note: if snipers grab PP2000/UMP then they can be useful in disarms also. Javelin (without SOFLAM) can lock onto MAV's (the flying UAVs) and drop them easy (helps to take down spotters for enemy mortar teams). SOFLAM can lock onto aircraft and allow javelins to fire on them...works well if you can get the locks. Also there is a 'lock-on' tank round the works with the SOFLAM, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. So basically I'm saying unlock the following shit so you can be useful in a group setting (anyone have adds/removes?): Assault: Get M320 + Smoke rounds Support: Get the Mortar Sniper: Get the SOFLAM and MAV Engineer: Get the anit-air rockets (like the 1st unlock) and the Javelin (pretty far along). |

Kind of a random thought, but was watching the movie Battlefield Los Angeles last night (not a bad movie...slightly lacking in some areas, but did well in the military equipment) and saw at the end of that they make extensive use of a SOFLAM. Also used in the Harrison Ford "Clear and Present Danger" when they're lighting up the monster truck. |
