Getting the first series on disc and finally watching through that. (Yes, I'm jelous of those of you watching the 2nd on TV already). For the most part they've done a good job of sticking to the books, with only a few changed conversations for the sake of speeding up the storyline and a couple extra sex scenes just to show additional boobies. BUT: SPOILER! Highlight it to read it. When the fuck were Renley (brother of King Robert) and Loras (Knight of flowers) gay lovers? I never caught any of that in the book, but they do everything shy of ATM in the gooddamn tv series... |

Martin never had such explicit scenes in the books, but there's innuendo everywhere, like how at dinners Renly always kinda ignored his hot wife (Loras's sister) in favor of Loras, or Loras is asked about forsaking women to guard the king and he's like "Meh, they would be a candle compared to the dawn" or something gay like that. Not sure how much of that is a spoiler, but better safe than sorry. |

Alright, I missed all that. The series obviously takes it to 'in-your-face' extremes. I'm sure I'll end up re-reading once they finish writing the whole series, so maybe will pick up on it then.
