The offense provided another lead, 5-4, in the fifth after a Mark Grudzielanek sacrifice fly, but the bullpen couldn't hold it, ending the team's season-high two-game winning streak.

Yeah, that was pretty awesome, although not quite as legendary as when the Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the 9th last year with 4 in a row.

Carlos Guillen's single with two out in the fourth scored Marcus Thames, who had walked, and was the first hit Perez allowed. Guillen's single started a hit parade of seven of eight Tigers getting a hit off Perez.

What Perez kept quiet about was that he had developed a finger blister in the fourth.

"The blister started coming up," Perez said. "I didn't want to say nothing to the pitching coach because I wanted to go out there and keep pitching my game. Sometimes you make mistakes because you want to sacrifice yourself and keep pitching in the game.
Thanks, you fuck. The other thing you could do is what's best for the team.

BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox starter Josh Beckett, the first seven-game winner in the majors, left after four innings on Sunday with a torn flap of skin (his vagina)...and failed in his attempt to tie a franchise record with a victory in his first eight starts.
Bitchboy here cost me a win this week in my fantasy league.

lol Buddy Bell. I love how they have to edit his quotes.

"I thought about changing the lineup, but I just don't see him that [messed] up, to be honest."

"Considering he has never played out there before, he has played pretty ... good at times."

David DeJesus led off the sixth inning with a double down the third-base line. Mark Grudzielanek walked, but Teahen hit into a double play. Carmona quickly went 0-2 on Mike Sweeney, but the captain was looking for a specific pitch.

Sweeney had studied Carmona's tendencies in recent starts and saw that he liked throwing an inside fastball to right-handers on 0-2 counts.

That's what he was looking for. That's what he received.

Sweeney didn't miss, blasting it 386 feet into the left-field bullpen. His fifth homer of the season tied the score and sent 20,000 fans wearing promotional white T-shirts into delirium.
I love Mike Sweeney, always, and never doubt him.

On an unrelated note, wouldn't you know it - when starters consistently last more than a third of an inning, the team wins more games.

Talk about a slippery slop:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2881602

*high-pitched, super-sarcastic voice*: ACCOUNTABILITY?

This is the stupidest story I've seen in a while. Let it go. It's sad. But it was HIS CHOICES AND HIS FAULT. Did the restaurant serve him too much marijuana? Did the restaurant serve him too much not being buckled in? Did the restaurant serve him too much talking on the cell phone? Did the tow truck forget to turn off its tractor beam, causing excessive speed? Why not sue the driver for driving a shitty car?

EDIT: OMFG, they are suing the driver. Fuck this guy in his ass.
