Like you wouldn't be saying it if it were Tennessee whose glory was stolen and buttfucked. I dare say the only way the BCS could get any gayer is if there could be a split national championship in it.

We could keep it around and let it pick the top 32 teams, who would then actually play each other to determine who's better...

Uh, this happened.

Why? They're still not even going to a BCS Bowl. They have to win out to qualify. (That includes beating OSU)
It would no longer be absolute horseshit if Michigan received a few votes here and there. Top 15 though? Not in any credible system.

Very good points, Hapy. This was the reason I fucking hated the BCS from the get-go. Every year some horseshit ACC or Big East (or worse, both -- see 1999) team would run the table in their shitty conference and end up in the "National Title" game, leaving vastly superior teams out in the cold simply because they played in real conferences.

The best scenario possible in any given year is for as many teams as possible to end up with one loss. After enough teams get fucked on East Classic 1, we can finally get a playoff and have real National Title games.

Check that, I meant if the BCS system picked two teams with the exact same ranking.

This is whats wrong with the BCS and why we should have playoffs instead.

OSU plays nobody the entire season so we don't know if they're a good team or an average team that can beat shitty opponents. Then there are teams that have harder schedules and end up with an occasional loss which makes them drop in the polls.

A playoff would put the good teams with a few losses on the same level as teams like OSU and then let the best team win.

The BCS says, "welp OSU is undefeated they must be good" This line of thinking leads to an endless stream of internet argument.

So yeah, if OSU does play and defeat LSU then they will have finally proven that they can beat a real team. My objection is that the right to play LSU shouldn't go to the buckeyes, it should go to a team that has already proven they will be a good match for the tigers. With OSU theres only a 50-50 chance that they'll make it a game.

I say, cut out some of the regular season out of conference games, send all the conference champs to the playoffs (and a few wildcards) and then have an NIT style tourney for everyone else. That would result in a clear champ and we wouldn't have to hear people bitch about this stuff anymore.

-"Waah, Michigan split the national championship with us even tho we totally deserved all of it"
So because our cupcakes were at the beginning of the season, and LSU's cupcakes are at the end of the season, they're more deserving? We play the entire top echelon of the Big10 for the last half of our season. Every team we play was bowl eligible before they actually played us. Every team since Michigan State was ranked higher than 20 before they played us. Then due to the SEC bias, they drop 35 spots just to make way for another SEC team.

LSU plays absolute nobodies for the rest of their season until the SEC championship game. And even that's up in the air for quality team.

So beating the #1 team in the country wouldn't justify it? They'll only be top 15 if they can beat Ohio State.

I don't understand. They're top 15 right now in the BCS (and all polls).

Yes....now. What do you think happens if they lose a game (i.e. expose that they're actually frauds and not just some people who took their first game lightly and just don't have the ability to defend a spread offense.)

How cares about their CAL score, they're just a crapy clawn with good weather. I'm just not too comfortable with a team losing to Appalachian State and ever being ranked again. Even if the team beat the shit out of everyone else - if they're really that good, they shouldn't have let the first game slide. That's just slopy.

Lots of teams have been defeated because they took a game lightly. Not only that but you don't think that they're still hurting from last year's 2 straight losses?

I guess leaving my bitterness out of it, at some point the scales started tipping from "Michigan is a fucking joke and should suicid bridge football" to "that Appalachian State game was far and away the greatest upset in foosball history." I'll admit, it's impressive how Michigan has bounced back from 0-2.

And they're still not a Top 15 team.

Not a problem. Losing to a good team in a rebuilding year is not something I'm going to get pissed about. I just find it so funny that so many fans are affected by Ohio State that they have to hang on to hope of Ohio State losing to make their week/year/century.

Well, when you guys lose to a good team let me know.

See when you play in a system that lets a team like OSU (who plays nobody in the regular season) go to the national championship untested, games like this are great because they keep crappy teams from weaseling into post season games that they don't belong in.

This sort of loss wouldn't be as big a deal if we had playoffs because even if OSU ran the Big 10 every year they'd crumble when they had to face real teams in the post season bracket.

Steve Levy: So Kirk, the fans have voted 71% that Ohio State vs Michigan is not the biggest rivalry in college football, is that a good call or a bad call?

Kirk: FHJKSAFHSJKFHSD (head explodes) THATS A HORRIBLE CALL, YOU FANS ARE PATHETIC! When are then fans going to wake up? Not only is it the biggest rivalry in college football its probably the biggest rivalry in all of sports. The only bigger one I can think of is Duke vs NC in basketball.

This was on sportscenter today
He said this right after saying that Charlie Weis should most definitely not be fired.

Despite your hate, no matter what you think, this rivalry IS the greatest in all American sports. Not even Red Sox/Yankees or Cowboys/Redskins surpass this rivalry. People are just tired of hearing about these teams which is the only reason people voted that way. Last year, 71% of fans voted it the biggest rivalry in college football. Call him a homer if you want, but NO OTHER RIVALRY COMES CLOSE TO TOUCHING THIS ONE.
