Quote: Quote: Quote: ![]() According to the House of Representatives, they passed a bill stating so: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c108:H.+Res.+460: Oh and: http://espn.go.com/endofcentury/s/other ... lries.html http://www.greatsportsrivalries.com/mich_osu.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15708929/ Oh and no other rivalry actually has had an HBO documentary created just on it. The Show Fields of glory even talks about the rivalry. When they discussed both Auburn and Alabama, beither documentary mentioned anything about the rivalry. Same with Texas (haven't seen the Oklahome one yet) |

Quote: Despite your hate, no matter what you think, this rivalry IS the greatest in all American sports. Not even Red Sox/Yankees or Cowboys/Redskins surpass this rivalry. People are just tired of hearing about these teams which is the only reason people voted that way. Last year, 71% of fans voted it the biggest rivalry in college football. Call him a homer if you want, but NO OTHER RIVALRY COMES CLOSE TO TOUCHING THIS ONE.
I would have taken you to task that the NU/OU rivalry was better BUT I CAN'T ANYMORE BECAUSE TEXAS TAINTED OUR FUCKING CONFERENCE AND WE DON'T PLAY OU EVERY YEAR ANYMORE. lol.

I think 71% of people voted that way because it's the truth. |

http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootba ... y/10480504 uh huh edit: oh, and I expect after the crushing 14-3 defeat, Michigan will now be ranked #7. edit2: haha, Notre Dame won another game. Maybe Duke was a no-show and posted a forfeit loss. |

So I've been snowboarding all day and I had to DVR the LSU game. Turns out DVR doesn't account for OT so the recording stopped before the 3rd OT. Anyway, Arkansas has the funniest offense I've ever seen. McFadden gets my vote for heisman. He was totally Arkansas TeamOnMyBack. I'm glad they didn't pull all that wacky crap when they played Tennessee. Anyway, I hope it'll be Kansas vs. Hawaii in the national championship. |

Raise your hand if you think West Virginia, Missouri, and Ohio State are the best three teams in the country. Yeah, we don't need a playoff. |

One of the ABC announcers said, "All the craziness that has gone on during this season just proves that we don't need a playoff" It's funny because I bet ABC makes a lot of money off the BCS games and if we went to a playoff system, they'd lose those BCS rights. ![]() All the craziness in this season is exactly why we do need a playoff. I'm sick of the anouncers who bash teams that the other networks have rights to. CBS hates everyone who is not SEC. ABC hates the SEC and just drools over the Big 10. etc It's also great when former plays who're now announcers get to call games feauring their alma mater. They should be forced to recuse themselves. |

Yeah, I saw that. He said the playoff is the entire regular season. It's unclear to me how he was able to speak so clearly with his head jammed so far up his ass. |

Who let jesse palmer in thsi thread. Now i have someone else to eHate... he may as well have said that about the BCS b/c he is a florida prima donna trashbucket. Really, when are we going to just go to a huge bracket system and make it just like the nfl on steroids (lawl, it already is on steroids), so the really crapy teams can be revealed for their true selves... it is more infuriating to me that garbage teams are overrated than for great teams to be underrated. Hapy makes a great point about biased sports announcers and play-by-play... i have a pet peeve about the damn t.v. talkers trying to glug all that schwang (omg Peyton, can I get you a cup of warm root beer while I ___ your average-sized _____ on national tv?!!) Just shut up and call the game, chuckleheads. Looks like I am rooting against teams again this year when the Bowl debacle rolls into town. That is if Gabe will quite eating all my Direct TV signal strength like he is tonight. |

Playoff won't solve anything. All it will do is show who the better team that night was. All you have to do is look back to 1996 to prove that.

That would be a hell of a lot better than a computer and a bunch of coaches and writers, with all their flaws and biases, trying to decide who is the better team that week. See every fucking poll this season. |

I don't see how it will be any better. No matter what, people will whine and bitch.

I'm just saying, both systems in practice are based on a small period of time. In theory the polls should take a more holistic view of the season, but compare a team losing the first game of the season to one losing the last game of the season and I guarantee the polls are kinder to the first team. At least the playoff actually has the teams compared to each other in a real game instead of the imaginations of the polls and simulations of the computers. People can bitch about not making the playoffs, but they can't very well bitch if their team loses to the other team in an actual game and that's why they don't compete for / win the national title, instead of not getting enough BCS points. I think there would be a lot fewer people bitching if a BCS-like system just chooses 32 or 16 teams or whatever to actually play each other. If your team doesn't make the top 32 or 16, stop crying and have them win more than 8 games. Plus you add the excitement like the basketball tournament has when you're like OMG MY TEAM IS IN THE FINAL FOUR; even if they lose, it's better than OMG MY TEAM WOUND UP 4th IN THE BCS WITH 18.231259150324 POINTS!!! Sorry for the disjointed post, I had to leave and come back a bunch because of this silly class I'm currently in, lol |
