Cool. In addition to being shitty conferences, they ruin it for the rest of us:

On its own, plus-one is stupid. But a four team playoff is better than what we have now, and would likely eventually be expanded. LET'S DO THIS.

AFAIK it's the Rose Bowl, not the conferences that are opposed.

At 7-2 the SEC has more bowl wins than any other conference has bowl games plus we have the national championship and the Heisman.

P.S. I won the "Pick the bowl game winners" pool at my school so obviously I know more about college football than anyone.

You know, amidst all my pissing and moaning about the BCS, I realized that the only thing it was really supposed to solve was the whole "One of the top two teams is the Big 10/Pac 10 champ and the other top team is not" scenario (see *&^%*&% 1997). To that end, it has worked. Of course, the BCS people and the networks who suckle at their teet (or penor) have tried to turn it into this end-all be-all TITLE GAME, which it is not - most years.

I also realized (dammit, don't read this Coq :P ) that as many wrenches as it has thrown and continues to throw into the cogs of getting a damned playoff finally, the Big 10/Pac 10 Rose Bowl tie is one of the things I love about college football. I hope when a playoff comes about that they can still maintain that to some degree like they have in the BCS.
