Ironically, im going to upgrade my computer even though i didn't decide to order one of those woot cards.

This seems like a good setup... it'll let me use my current RAM, PSU, and video card (which is AGP - if I want, I can upgrade to PCI-X later). However, I AM PATIENT, so if anyone would like to say nay about any of these components, please do so.

(P.S. I considered a Raptor, but I don't know if it'll make *that* much difference, and it's so expensive and small.)

hogg - the setup looks good. the motherboard looks nice... i didn't realize any were available with both AGP and PCIe.

I'd say get a dual core. It's a more worthwhile upgrade.

That's kinda vague, Smith. I know what it means, but I haven't been able to find articles about whether multi-core is better for gaming and stuff. The Newegg reviews have a lot of this:

I don't plan to edit video while I play games. I can already listen to winamp and play games at the same time if I want.

The main thing, of course, is that the dual core processors are $150 for the bottom-of-the-line ones. I think that's the most I would spend on a processor, and I don't know if that one would be any better than a single core proc, especially when I just don't use my computer for two Gabe-like applications simultaneously. Plus, there's a lot of this in the reviews too:
