also, you don't need to pre-order to play the open beta. Pre-orders get it on the 27th, the rest of us get it on the 29th.

Is it 27th at 9pm Az time. Or are they going to open the beta in the morning?

Because I will take the 27th and 28th off to play with you guys if it is in the morning.

Also this. No Heavy MGs, voice comm for the entire team is on, and the return of the commo rose.

Also, I've priced a BF3 server through Nuclear Fallout, located in Dallas.

For a month-to-month, 64-man server, it's $95.99. If we contract up, it gets cheaper and cheaper.

Fiddle with things and we'll come to a consensus about what direction we want to head. We also need to decide what type of game mode we'll want to offer. I'm partial to a softcore server, but I could be convinced to do hardcore if things like spotting, minimaps, etc are in. I'd also want to have a mod that limits the number of snipers, forces people to join squads, and so on.

Commo rose = good.
No heavy MG's = bad (I love those things...nothing deforests like a heavy MG)
Voice comm for entire team? .....eh, can't we go back to the 'squad + chain of command' kinda thing like Battlefield 2? Where the commander could talk to squad leaders, the squad leaders could talk to commander or their squad, and the squad memebers could all talk to just their squad?

As for the $100/month price....that's a solid kick in the pants, but I'll help contribute for a solid server we like and doesnt come with Dime pre-banned. As for the options on it? I appreciate higher-damage per shot, other then that dont really give a fuck.

I'll contribute fo sho. NFO is my first choice for host, and I think Dallas would be the best central option. I'm with ya, Dime, on all the server options you mentioned.

I'd put in a little extra per month if we're up for making it a BFTips.com server (server description and banner). I still have a long way to go until I'm on the path to breaking even with the cost of the website, but this might bring a little more traffic. If we'd rather it be named The Fellation Dome and have a burly shirtless dude for the banner, no big deal.

Let's see who is up for pooling in money for the server. We have a lot of BC2 players in the clawn, and hopefully we'll have even more for BF3. Still, if we can't get enough willing or able contributors, we can start off with a 32-man server to keep the cost down (though 64 is also my preference). Either way, we should probably pay for 1 month first, and if the server is well populated we can bump up the payment to multiple months for a discount after that.

Dime, will you have plenty of free time around BF3's release to configure the server? I'm gonna be pretty busy that week (crazy work schedule lately) so I doubt I'd have the time.

Did Punkbuster or Steam do an update so that Punkbuster doesn't kick you for using the overlay? I imagine they may have white-listed Origin, but I'm not sure about Steam.

That's like asking if you should be a manhammer or gay.

I mean we're gay, but we're the right kind of gay.
