...I don't know. I was hopeing someone could tell me. I mean, I've tried therapy, the catholic church, even going to a whorehouse. Somehow I always end up sucking balls yet. Even when I play this game I suckzors the ballzors. Sigh....

Teaks and I had a revelation tonight.

Someone who beat the shit out of me in a ranked game suggested I go for the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) upgrade when I couldn't keep up to his infantry. I forgot about this for a couple days, then I gave it a shot tonight. Teaks and I both used a similar strategy tonight and had really good results.

For starters, we skipped the weapons support center entirely and just got a barracks at the start. The BAR upgrade is available at the barracks. It's much, much more effective than the standard rifle. The BAR is very useful on the move, so you'll have the best results micromanaging your units. Push up to the sides of machinegunners and anti-tank guns. The riflemen will fire while running to weaken the enemy then finish them off once they're in position. Two or three squads of riflemen become a threat rather than cannon fodder. The BAR also gives riflemen the Suppess ability, which costs 40 munitions and will pin most types of enemy infantry. This renders them useless and you'll either take out the infantry or force your opponent to retreat.

After the BAR upgrade, I would get sticky bombs. Last, I would research grenades. Each are effective, and if you're doing well on resources you should have plenty of munitions to put the abilities to use.

Even with sticky bombs, your infantry will be susceptible to a large tank assault. For this, I recommend a few anti-tank guns from the Motor Pool. Keep them just behind your infantry and spend your efforts using sticky bombs. This combination can hold off a pretty large tank assault, and requires no armor of your own.

I concur with Sabs. The grenade upgrade should definitley be later rather than sooner simply because grenades to me are more useful in very narrow situations.
