crapy clawn forums

sometime soon (hopefully in the next few months) im going to be trying to record some music played in a bar. anyone know an easy way to get a good quality recording of something like this cheap? preferably just with a microphone plugged into a laptop or something.

make friends with (or buy) the audio guy, plug into his console.

otherwise, there's just no way to get good quality with a mic. Too much crowd noise and just ambient noise.

well there is no audio guy. its just 4 guys playing in a bar. they have thought about making a cd but dont think that recording it well is possible. the place i was sitting last time you could hear the music really well with almost no background noise. and a little noise in the background wouldnt be all that bad. sound like youre listening to it there.

well give it a try then.

you might even pick up a handheld recorder so you don't have to bring a laptop. theyu're not outrageous, maybe about 30 bucks

well im going to try it when i get a chance. mostly just wondering if anyone would know a good microphone or recording software or anything to use.

software for post production (once you have the recording) is Cool Edit. Adobe bought them so now it's called Adobe Audition. If you can find a torrent for either I'd suggest getting that.
