Scout's easy....just keep running.

Pyro sucks for open maps.

my list of level of skill required to play well, lowest skill required to hardest:


Medic
(stay behind somebody with a big gun)

Scout
(don't. ever. stop. running.)

Pyro
(harder because now you have to start planning to only engage in close quarters.)

Heavy
(harder than pyro because you're a big fucking target, same strat, just a little longer range.)

Sniper
(sniper's gun is potent, and it's easy to be worthless sniper, but to play well, you have to move up and be more aggressive, and that's hard)

Engineer
(like the sniper, if you're going to be worthless, it's easy. But to really be good support, you have to move farther up, and that's hard. also there are bad spots to put turrets and good spots. Knowing those isn't easy.)

Soldier
(for us CS folk, having to predict and lead a target to hit with a slow moving projectile is a very new skill.)

Spy
(will always be difficult until FF is turned on.)

Demo
(Not only do you have to predict and lead a target with a slow moving projectile, but the projectile is short range and fucking arcs.)

So, what have we learned from this study?
  • Nobody loves the Engineer. At all. (It's okay buddy, I still love you.)
  • More than one person thinks Biology is a class in TF2.
  • There is no hope for mankind. Not on this forum, nor anywhere else on the internet. No hope at all.

Still play the shit out of this game.

I have over 100 hrs as engineer and have become a master of every class except the medic which i have 3 hrs.

Here are some tips for the harder classes.

Engineer-build a dispenser first on set-up and you will have more metal and ultimately will build faster. When set-up keep your back to the wall and be ready to yell "spy on my shit!". It is best to build a dispenser perpendicular to a wall so you can back your ass into the corner. Fix your sentry from the farthest angle possible so you do not get side back stabbed. The wrench does massive dmg. Also wrenching a setting up unit will build it faster.

SPY- I recently became very very good at spy. Very frustrating class to learn and even to play when you are good. If they are spy checking or have tons of pyros abandon the class. I really like playing spy on cart levels, as I will use the invisible forever as long as you don't move watch and will wait patiently until multiple heavys ect are on the cart and I'm confident no one is going to show up behind me as I decloak. I also use the Kunai (60 hp starting) which gives me the HP of everyone I just back stabbed making me fucking invincible as long as I'm getting back stabs. My record so far for cart back stab chain is 6 with 100 points during one rnd. Downside is one rocket or nade sometimes and DEAD. HOW TO LEARN--- Start with dead ringer and normal knife. Run into enemy backwards sometimes as a pyro and it often works cause people think you are backing away from a heavy or what not. If you get killed you will just be invisible and continue behind them and stab stab.

DEMO- Stickies near a choke point/cap point/cart. Then use regular nades over a structure while you watch the indicator on the bottom of the screen. If it shows they are on the objective then right click with and weapon.

Heavy-- Getting back stabbed a lot? Turn around about every 5 sec and spy check everyone.

Pyro- right click for the air blast. If you are in a standoff with a soldier, wait for his rockets to get near you and right click he will be powerless until he decides to get out the shotgun.

as engi, always build a teleporter entrance outside spawn first, then run back in and refill your metal.

You can build the exit at your leisure.

Oh and instead of standing around as a soldier ect during set-up time, switch to engy and upgrade other guys teleporters. Then switch back to your class in time to fight at the start.

I have had that for some time. Not sure if you get it for not going to achievement servers or what.
How dumb are you as a developer to let people get achievements on a non stock server.
