Here is the setup

company laptop
Holiday Inn internet (wireless)
Team fortress 2

update list for servers works
when I try to connect it fails 4 times every time

I'm hoping it isnt a damn port issue that I can't fix

I can ping the base ip of a server. Whats weird is I have no problem finding a server most of the time. Once in awhile it will say server not responding before attempting a connection. I refresh and it then attempts.

Can you ping an ip with the port as well?

I don't know how TF2 is set up. A "ping" as in opening up a command prompt and pinging a server, those don't use ports. But if you mean "ping" like "seeing a server status in the TF2 browser" then I don't know.

No I just wondered if you can ping ports after an ip.

Steam also hates dual band routers. Found that out the hard way at a hotel once.

It may also be some crap that my company put on this damn thing. Perhaps I could change the outgoing port?

One of my co-workers has the same labtop. He has system commander on his puter. He installed another partition (10gig) with win xp. Then he installed another one to a removable hdd. windows shows 3 installations of xp on bootup. we want it to erase all windows except the origional from the boot screen.
