It's the age-old question, but I'm thinking of taking the leap from cable to satellite. You see, Omaha's local cable company, Cox, are a bunch of Cocks. It seems a few extra bucks is too much to ask for 40 of the 140 Royals games aired by FSN Kansas City to be picked up by Cox, so the 40 best games of the year (yeah, they picked the ones they thought would be highest rated) will be replaced by women's tennis or women's gymnastics or whatever other irrelevant shit happens to be airing on FSN Who Gives A Fuck.

My question: who here has DirecTV, and how do you think it stacks up against cable? Is the "dense cloud/lightning" issue a pain in the ass or only a rare inconvenience? I trust the people here in this matter way more than most of the people I know in real life.

lol wurds.

Discuss plz.

when i decide to engage in the expense of pay viewing, i will select satallite (this is assuming i'm in my own house an can put up a dish, the most likely scenario).

i've talked to a ton of people about it and it all depends on if you are in a valley or not... being the west, you are not in a valley, so you will be fine.

My folks has Direct TV and then Dish network before they moved to CO. The only time the signal fucked up was during rather severe storms.

They've got Dish Network in CO and the only time the signal breaks up is when the dish is covered with about an inch of snow.

On a side note, now I understand why TV Guide channel says there is a Royals game on but it's actually wimminz tennis.

Cable is shit in all the places I have lived. Sat trumps all. Especially when we had hacked sat. Unfortunatly that has gone a long time ago. I thnik in 2 years, I have had the sat go out twice from rain. We are talking about some major Houston rain. It was also only for a few hrs at a time. My main problem with cable is they push digital cable boxes. I don't give a fuck if it is digital or not, I will never be able to tell the difference as this is what we call a "marketing scheme". I had digital cable when it first came out and it took an entire sec. to change a single channel which drove me freggin nuts. Now I have seen some digital cable boxes which are much faster. My other problem is that not only do you pay for this service, endure through major amounts of commercials, and are forced to have your volume drastically raised during these commecials, but you must now have your guide covered in adverts which you did not pay for. I have found that if your provider uses an insane amount of these as did charter, it slows down your menu at a snails pace.

I would choose sat over shit cable any day unless I could go back to those shitty analog brown boxes we used back in the early 90's.

My conclusion.... I hate cable and so do you!
