Post subject:  Voice acting
So as you probably know I'm making a space RTS for my 2D gaming class.

We're almost finished and we're at the point where we need some audio and voice acting stuff. So I was telling Snow PEA about this and then he read some lines and I recorded it in vent. Anyway, it is super funny so now we want everyone to help with this project.

We need a recording of somebody saying all of these lines. One of my team members wants a "sooting robot voice (female)" and everyone else doesn't care.

So, I'll be in vent later if you guys want to record some of these.

They don't have to be verbatim, paraphrasing is cool.

Well uh we don't really have characters per-say.

The "story" is that YOU are a space overlord who controls vast swaths of the galaxy. You don't care for other space overlords so you decide to wage war on them and wipe them all out.

So you take your mothership (a giant city-sized craft that looks kinda like cloud city or stargate atlantis) and you move through the solar system building fighters and attacking the other space overlords who are doing the same thing.

The game play is a bit like World in Conflict. You move your mothership from world to world terraforming each planet and asteroid. When a planet is terraformed it starts automatically producing ships for you.

You send the ships around the map and they automatically attack any enemies they see. The goal is to kill the enemy mothership while protecting your own.

So the voices can come from a computer voice or from one of your crew members.

AHAHA, I just played Rob and Dime's sounds for everyone.

So, for the moment we're using Dime's terraforming sounds as placeholders (which makes the game hilarious).

between that and audacity, I think I could have some fun sprucing up the various voice overs with appropriate static and stuff. i'll fiddle with mine tomorrow for an example.

lastly, what is your title in the game? Overlord? Commander? i.e. "soandso, our shit's under attack. do something."

Actually, my team really likes your Engineer voice for the terraforming stuff. Although we don't really like the line, "initializing terraforming" it just sounds strange as it rolls off the tongue. We need suggestions for a script change.

Also, I want to hear what Ultros sounds like.
