WTF is this game? I'm buying weapons? Earning ESPORTS cases....wtf.

Don't worry about the skins and cases for now. When the weapon cases were first available, they would sell for decent money on the market, but now most of it sells for pennies so it's barely worth a look.

The game itself plays out about the same as it always has. Play on "casual" servers for a while until you get used to the maps again and learn which weapons work best for you. Once you've put some time in, you should try playing a "competitive" game with us. It's a 5v5 game that goes until one team wins 16 rounds. If you quit early you get penalized by not being able to join games - the duration of the penalty increases the more you quit. You'll need to commit about an hour for a match. It's a lot of fun as long as you're playing with underscores because it relies a lot on teamwork.

In competitive, you get a rank based on wins and losses. Your rank determines the rank of your opponents (and teammates if you play with randoms). It takes 10 wins to get a rank. Until then it's going to be tough to get wins since the game assumes you're a medium rank. That aside, I think you'll have fun so long as you play with us. We're doing a lot of BF4 lately but some of us are also up for CS any time.

It's only a map pack for playing on the official matchmaking servers. You can still play the maps for free on pubs or private servers.

Oh. Well in that case fuck that noise. Even if it is 99 cents.

Btw we pretty much only play the competitive matchmaking mode when we play. It's fun.

Yea, but only 1 person needs it if you want to play the maps. Really the only reason to get it at this point is if you're into the drops/stats or want to support some mapmakers.

Did they get rid of sprays? I don't seem to see that option at all.

Why did Valve ruin this game?

I actually really like CS:GO in it's current config. Seems pretty balanced and well put together. My only issue is with the silliness of the weapon skins, but that's purely cosmetic and: silly skins = I get money for playing game I would play anyway. So I still kinda see that as a win.

Yeah, we've had a ton of fun with competitive matches. We can't really pubraid anymore, but the matches generally satisfy our thirst for a teamwork-driven challenge AND opportunity to be jackasses.

When do you normally play? Organize with us for a competitive match and your opinion may quickly change.

I just started playing again. My work schedule has me randomly on at random hours. But yeah the whole point was to come and play again with you guys. I'm just a bit rusty since I haven't really played Counter Strike since 2006.

Why can't you pubraid anymore? Is it the way servers are now or just that you all have different schedules?

The way the servers are now mostly.... they fixed the EMP, they fixed the glock fountain (it still will crash some really large rarely played maps), and we usually have 5-6 people at any given time (as opposed to 7 or 8 for a proper pub raid).

Also playing competitive matches is fun, and it's never been easier to play with your friends.

and like Hogg said, when the going gets tough or too easy in a competitive match we often employ pubraid tactics.

Sprays and the ability to play sounds through voice chat were also key elements of pub raids.

Valve Ruined THIS GAME. Probably won't be free much but if you guys are going to be fat nerds around Christmas I"m down for some Xmas Eve/Christmas Day playing. I'm getting my groove back. Like Stella.

I fucking HATE the damn freeze cam so u can take a screenshot. Anyway to turn off? Also hate the voices saying grenade excedera.

There's a buggy command to turn off radio commands, or you could just replace the sound files. Here's the details.

And there's a really easy way to turn off freeze cam: close your eyes for 2 seconds every time you die in game.

LOL thanks. I hate the Voices. Really impressed with Gabben on GO. The anti-hack is working very very well I think. No longer do I enter a match and think that guys hacking for SURE! Pretty rare. Seems to be due to the removal of that big hack I read about that I think Teaks posted about. So I have no problem buying a few keys for crates to support this game further.
