Found something we need to try.

Nate and I just tried this with a single engineer dropping AT mines. We were able to get some distance, but we'll need a full squad to pull off the Real Deal.

I uploaded 43 screenshots of tonight's tomfoolery. Have a look at my Steam profile for the full goodness.

This was shortly before my computer exploded. I like to think the greatness overload had something to do with it.

Amusing anecdote time.

I hopped into a SQDM server called ATiElite tonight. Among the guys with the ATI tag there was a decent amount of coordination and skill, but they always seemed to band together to hold the same hill/building/whatever. A valid tactic I guess, but at times it crossed the line to gratuitous camping. Mildly irritating, but things were moving along and the rounds were fun. One or two whiners actually got kicked because the admins were enforcing a "respect all players" rule. One of the kicked players was kicked for calling somebody a tool. That petty nonsense was pretty dumb, but not annoying enough to stop playing. So at some point the ATI guys stopped winning so much and lost 2 or so rounds in a row, and one of the talky kids was all "ATI needs some help" and another person said "they should follow nVidia's example" or words to that effect. Not long after, he was kicked for something "unrelated". Still, I don't care and am just playing the game. Until one of the ATI guys who had been AFK comes back and says "I'm back...I was just making some toast on my neighbor's nVidia". Now, I don't give a shit about brand loyalty; usually price dictates what I buy more than most other factors. I could care less about insisting that one piece of hardware is superior because of the sticker on the outside, but if you're gonna sit there and be a dickass testosteradmin and kick somebody and then run your mouth the same way they were that's fairly irritating. Feeling that a response was called for, I chat to all "Really? Do you like archaeology? Because the week I had an ATI card I saw more artifacts than I ever have before in my life!". To say there was a chilling effect in the server is an understatement. Suddenly it was all baseless accusations stating that I didn't know how to use their card. So I say "Yeah you're right....I installed the card into the keyed slot the wrong way, and then I installed the driver backwards. Silly me", to which one of them made a "hilarious" joke about being glad I saw the error of my ways and thanks for the apology. And oh, how the e-peens did fly from their roost! Pretty soon threats of kicking were being tossed around, with one of them asking "why are you here?" and another one saying "why do you insist on being kicked instead of just leaving?". One of them asked specifically why I came there just to talk about nVidia vs. ATI. Keep in mind this was literally about 1.5 to 2 hours after I joined their server. The only other thing I had said on the chat during that time was when one of the whiners cussed me out for knifing him and I said "shhh...talking makes my knife blade go deeper into your larynx". So I countered this ridiculous claim with logic, saying "I did not disrespect a player. I merely countered inflammatory nonsense with more inflammatory nonsense. I'm here to play the game". I can't remember if it was before or after that that I said "Incidentally, assuming you're actually with the company and not a fanboy shill, I wonder what your corporate PR department thinks of you using snark to spread the good news of ATI". Surprisingly, they were not big fans of this speculatory statement. I soon found myself kicked.
Not the most hilarious example of douchebag admin baiting, but I thought it was pretty funny.

A new BC2 patch is coming Wednesday. Didn't realize they had anything in the works. Took them a long time to address these issues, but at least the game isn't being abandoned after <2 years. The bad side is it's another Giant Ass (2.6 GB) Patch.

Changelog:
Quote:
Removed some memory leaks
Fixed crashes when the game attempted to render lots of content (high detail, high FOV or multiple-monitor modes); this should particularly help multi-monitor users
Chat window no longer causes lag spikes
Chat window reworked opacity & visibility-time is controllable through settings in settings.ini
Clantag is remembered when using auto-login
Banner URLs can be up to 252 characters in length
SecuROM wrapper removed from non-Steam version
Minor performance enhancements
Reduced rubberbanding on servers with more than 24 active players
PrintScreen takes a screenshot, file stored in Documents\BFBC2\Screenshots directory

lololol. thanks dice. All in all though, there's not much else to fix. It plays like they intended, even though I think the tracer dart is pretty worthless and wish m-coms took 0 damage.

Overall I think the gameplay and weapon balance is good... not perfect, but no major complaints from me. Again, I'm surprised they've been putting the effort into this with BF3 on the way. 2 years old in the PC game world is like a 30 year old woman in Hollywood.

Dont knock Betty White, asshole. I like Betty White. Okay, maybe the 'asshole' isnt necessary, but it felt right.

Have we finally gotten to Betty White's asshole?
I've been thinking of starting a thread.
Guess I shouldn't be surprised Sabs is the one who brought it up.
