Cain's 9-9-9 plan. Any thoughts? Not sure I can support it yet.

Lawrence O'Donnell hostile interview with Cain.

Protestors on wall street? Tards?

i tried for about 30 minutes to figure out what occupy wallstreet is about (http://occupywallst.org/) and only gathered that they're grumpy about the level of unemployment and maybe the war too? Maybe they feel a bit disenfranchised because Obama let them down?

good article. So can I start to bitch about monopolies now? And how de-regulation can lead to breaking capitalism just as well as too much regulation?

The flea party should be protesting the FED, not wall street in my opinion. This private entity is one place that I think actually needs regulation.

If he followed this plan I could be on board.

The Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (GLB), also known as the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, (Pub.L. 106-102, 113 Stat. 1338, enacted November 12, 1999) is an act of the 106th United States Congress (1999–2001). It repealed part of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933, removing barriers in the market among banking companies, securities companies and insurance companies that prohibited any one institution from acting as any combination of an investment bank, a commercial bank, and an insurance company. With the passage of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act, commercial banks, investment banks, securities firms, and insurance companies were allowed to consolidate. The legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton.A year before the law was passed, Citicorp, a commercial bank holding company, merged with the insurance company Travelers Group in 1998 to form the conglomerate Citigroup, a corporation combining banking, securities and insurance services under a house of brands that included Citibank, Smith Barney, Primerica, and Travelers. Because this merger was a violation of the Glass–Steagall Act and the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, the Federal Reserve gave Citigroup a temporary waiver in September 1998.[1] Less than a year later, GLB was passed to legalize these types of mergers on a permanent basis. The law also repealed Glass–Steagall's conflict of interest prohibitions "against simultaneous service by any officer, director, or employee of a securities firm as an officer, director, or employee of any member bank."

Seems like this is the Ultros only thread since nobody else cares about politics.

Carry on.

Don't particularly care about politic. President Obama has been a hell of a lot more moderate than he himself and the media portrayed him... and most likely will win the next election, despite his so called betrayal of the democrats and pandering to the republicans.

I also think the "occupy" movement is camped in the wrong places. Should be camped in DC, on capital hill the white house and the supreme court. Seems they are harassing the players instead of trying to change the rules of a skewed game. Although they are grabbing headlines so hopefully turning heads in Washington... hopefully they won't seem like a bunch of whiny kids who payed too much for a liberal arts degree and can't find work... kind of the way they seem portrayed in the media... or maybe that's just because I am a whiny kid who payed to much for his liberal arts degree.

I classify 99% of OWS as "Useful Idiots". The other 1% had signs that made sense like end the FED.

Saw this on facebook.

A $50 Lesson:
I recently asked my neighbors' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do? She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' Her parents beamed with pride. 'Wow, what a worthy goal.' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.' She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50? ' I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

I classify 99% of OWS as nonlethal target practice. If they want to camp in one place they're just stationary targets.

i spent just all my research juice on this one effort, but this person on facebook posted this:
Quote:
Facts are Facts - Let's see who is gonna argue with this and tell me Obama is amazing. BLAH!!!
This tells the real story. Obama can claim all the success he wants, in the end it is all lies.

i replied with this:

I checked 2 of the stats on your chart. They are correct but i think a graph would more accurately represent what actually happened. I'll attempt to summarize.

stimulus package: approved feb 2009.
unemployment peak: 10% in oct 2009.
slow decline to 8.5% of today.
stimulus neither great success nor total failure.

gas price july 2008: $4.12 (highest ever).
december 2008: economic collapse
obama inaguration price: $1.85
current price: a bit higher than normal.
my prediction: will likely decrease unless somebody decides to start another war.

Yea, it seems like the table is a bit misleading. Obama didn't destroy the economy, nor did he restore it to pre-crash levels.

I don't want to spend the time to check the rest of the stats, but I would caution anyone about drawing any conclusions from the attached chart or any other charts from Mr.Conservative.com. I'm thinking that it may be a strongly biased source! Watch out!

I think whoever was in office was going to be more chump than champ.
Presidents appear to wield a massive amount of impotent power (if that' possible).
I long ago made the assumption that it's mostly the very very rich who hire amazingly smooth people to lobby on their behalf.
Those people remain in a position to stay long after Presidents leave and Congressman murder chicks.

I vote on social policies, period.

I don't vote for Republicans because they're usually pro-life, anti gay marriage, and other draconian points of view.
