If you guys think you'll play this on weekend days or evenings during the week, I'm in. That would make 4 of us, so we could split a 4-pack. If you think it'll mainly be a late-night game like L4D usually is, I won't be around enough to play. Sale runs until midnight tonight, central time. |

Have I mentioned how much I fucking love steam? Imagine, even if the internet was as connected/capable/high-speed as it is now, 10-15 years ago trying to do any gaming through what people had to buy at brick and mortar only? Played through a couple of missions (not mentioning the one we failed) with Sabs today. It's a definate $2.50-$5 game. It's a little clunky, the gunplay is moderate, but as a "hey, lets do 1 run through each mission as a 4-man group just for something new" game it's entertaining. It wont be something we play for years (or months even...i give it a lifespan of about 5 days), but definately recommended if cheap as hell. It winds up becoming a lot of: move to objective start timer on objective hold out against onslaught of police until time runs out repeat But it's something new, and I like that. Kinda like 'l4d survival' mode with a mobile hold-out point. As a side note I hit up the wiki on it for clarification on the 'upgrade' system since it's not really intuitive or well explained in-game: There are apparently 4 different classes, each corresponding to a character (instead of mearly cosmetic changes like l4d) Of the four characters they are in order: Assault / Sniper / Support / Technician (Dont remember the names for each, but that's the order that it lets you select them in) They all start with exactly the same gear, only get different stuff as they get unlocks. The first 3 have had all their unlocks enabled (along with 2 additional maps) already, the 4th guy's stuff is still supposed to come as DLC in the future. Quote:

Personal upgrades are awarded as the player gains reputation. There are three mutually exclusive (except for the Mr Nice Guy crew bonus) upgrade trees: Assault – for those who want firepower. Its unlockable items are the Mark 11 sub-machine gun, Crosskill .45 pistol, Brenner 21 machine gun, and ammo bag. Bonuses also go towards the AMCAR-4, extra cable ties, and body armor. Sharpshooter – for those who want precision and range. Its unlockable items are the Locomotive 12 G shotgun, M308 rifle, and trip mines. Bonuses also go towards the B9-S, the AMCAR-4, thick skin, and body armor. Support – for those who want to support teammates. Its unlockable items are the Bronco .44 revolver, Reinbeck shotgun, Compact-5 sub-machine gun, and doctor bag. Bonuses also go towards the AMCAR-4, extra ammo reserves, and body armor. The player can select which tree to upgrade through during a heist. For the PC, hold [Tab] and press [1] for Assault, [2] for Sharpshooter or [3] for Support. This can be done before or during the heist. Also what ever class is chosen will stay on that class until changed. The player gains reputation by collecting cash, which is awarded for completing objectives and can occasionally be scavenged. The reputation limit is 145 so that the player unlocks everything in the union of the trees upon reaching it. |
