I set up and operated my own little win2003 server for awhile and while doing so combined several HD's into one large logical drive. Well, that computer broke down on me so I disassembed, combined the parts with another broken computer, and have reassembled one good running computer. My issue is as follows:

The two parts of that one logical drive were both (obviously) working as dynamic disks in the old computer; one a 200GB and one a 250GB. Now that they've been reassembled in the new computer it's not recognizing them as a single logical drive but instead as individual dynamic disks that are only partially there. The new computer is running WinXP, and it detects the disks without any problems. It can recognize them, their size, and the physical characteristics about them but cannont access the data on them as it registers them each a dynamic disk with missing sectors. I also cannot convert them back to basic disks without losing everything currently on them. I have not yet deleted or altered the data on these HD's at all since being in the win2003 computer.

Here's the Question: Does anyone know of a way to retrieve the data off of these disks with losing all of it? Is there anyway to get anything off of them at all?

At stake: A large amount of porn! There may be some music, some videos, maybe a few tv episodes, but most importantly there is a lot of porn on there.

PLEASE HELP ME SAVE MY PORN!

I should also note here: In their earlier configuration these disks were in a RAID 1 configuration (simple mirror). Guess that might add a little more necessary info.

Everything I've been able to find on this has basically told me: You're fucked like a 5 year old boy at a catholic church lock-in, but hey, maybe someone can pull a mystic wand of wonderfulness out of their pants for me...

you know, sometimes you just have to let go...

... and replace it all with brand new porn.

But on the other hand, new porn sucks. A lot.

try this:

1. Open Computer Management (right click my computer -> manage)

2. In the console tree, click Disk Management.

3. Click Action, and then click Rescan Disks.

If the disks are dynamic disks, Disk Management displays Import Foreign Disks dialog box. Right-click any disk marked Foreign, click Import Foreign Disks, and then follow the instructions on your screen.

if that does not work PM ur ph# and i'll call when i have some free time.

**also, if possible keep the disks in the same physical setup as the old 2k3 system (on IDE1, IDE2, or position of master, slave)

Thx Punisher, same thing that Sabs recommended. In the process of getting it up and going.

If you need to recover data from it, you could use a linux live cd, I know that AUDITOR will mount the drives as read only. I do not know if it will recognize the raid config or not though, but it should be worth a try.
