Yea, i was bitching about it to ashley, how neither the giving of gifts to the christ child nor the giving of gifts by saint nicholas to the poor entails giving lavish gifts to one's family and close friends.

But then she retorted that if you get your crap done before the rush, (in november) the season can be quite fun: lights and cool weather and happy people and good food and gifts all around. it's just a matter of planning ahead.

The whole christmas music does get old. Few of the songs are any good, and hearing them overplayed once a year doesn't do much for my appreciation of them.

All in all, though, it's a positive season, not withstanding the commercialists pushing the religious aspects into a cage, and the frenzied blood rush for presents in late december.
