IIRC, the 1.6 servers died after Source came out. Then we had six or so servers running CS:S, but the only ones that were ever populated were the d/d2 ones, which were full of your standard d/d2 trash. The sad state of affairs and being bored of running CS servers since years forced Duck to close up shop.

I do miss the good old days sometimes.

Duck stopped caring and got a life, fought with Battlemaster and made him cri, hired leth4l who alienated the majority of the community (re: US ), refused to run servers that worked, and canceled the tournament.

Yeah, us losing interest didn't help things. I think at one point seven of the [H]|G admins were [ __ ].

but MAN did we bring that community down, what with our stellar adminship, and our support of all things, and our strive to make it a better place... I would not wish such a curse on any community.

Also, some months before the death of everything, Honda left to try to start his own gaming company. The final (and only, as far as I can tell) product of that is the Vent server we use.

Wow. Yeah I hear ya AR. I miss the old days too. I see Honda on xfire, said hi a couple of times, but never got a response.

Duck was also pissed that the linux CSS servers had some bug that valve refused to fix and it made the servers crash after ever map change or something.

The bug made leth4l say something like, "Thats why Windows servers are alwasy better than linux servers."

there was always some server crash bug. whenever they actually fixed one they made another. that was a big part of the servers being shutdown. duck got tired of valve making it so difficult to keep them up.

It was more of honda being forced to leave from what I hear...but yea. Pretty much only the vent and irc chan exists in that regard.

JT, come join us in IRC #bloodshotgamer on irc.gamesurge.net. Honda's always there and talking most of the time.

Valve would pay a lot more attention to Windows servers than Linux ones. There was one server patch that crashed all the Linux servers in the world. They pushed out a patch without so much as trying to start up a Linux server with it.

Didn't Honda try to pull some sponsorship stuff through Hardgaming and Kyle and Duck didn't want it and there was "DRAMA BOMBS" dropping all over the place. Also, Honda is a dick.

Actually the primary reason is i got sick of the constant drama and hassle,

waiting up until midnight for valve to release an update that would almost certainly break the server then waiting another 8 hours for them to patch it with no word from them on whether they even knew of a bug

Scratching and clawing to attract players only to have valve break the linux server AGAIN

Any change pissing off half the players and making the other half estatic

The complete desertion of css by all the good players and 90% of our players being asshats and fucktards

Being pissed off and annoyed all the time by something that took 40% of my time and contributed not one bit to my enjoyment of life

dealing with other fucktards who ALWAYS thought their way was the only way to run servers, these people of course never having run their own server
