So my bank sold my car loan to this company "1st Investors." They give you Four Easy Options for payment:
1) mail a check
2) pay by phone!
3) Western Union
4) MoneyGram Express Payment
So which one is most convenient and doesn't waste my stamps? Pay by phone, of course! But I call them, and hold and hold and hold, and finally the hostile phonemonkey tells me that phone payments are assessed an additional $10 fee. Well that's good to know! Go fuck yourself!
So I look up 3 and 4. Western Union would cost at least $20, and MoneyGram would cost $12. Fuck THAT right in the ass!
So I included this friendly note with my check:

Why, a company might even, once a month, automatically withdraw a car loan payment from a debtor's checking account! Imagine how much the company would save! Imagine the delight of the customer, who no longer needs to send checks by mail every month or pay insane moneygram fees on top of getting reamed by the interest rate on his loan! O sweet utopia! O brave new world, that has such things in it!
But until 1st Investors enters the 21st century... here's your check.

After some thought, I added on the reverse side:

In the "For" line on my check, I wrote "Stone Age Car Payment."
Of course, all of this took longer than it would take for me to write checks for all of my remaining payments, and in that time I could have earned more than enough to pay for postage. But, as a supreme law of the universe states, "Spite is a good enough reason to do anything." (edit: and it's not often that I have so much fun parting with $200)
Idiots.
Oh and then when I went to stuff the envelope, I noticed that had my middle initial wrong. So I wrote a correction, followed by "but your way works too."
Haha. Idiots.
