New downloadable campaign!

Just download, extract the .zip file, and double-click the .vbk to install it into l4d. Then open l4d like u usually do, tell it you want to play a custom campaign (as a campaign, vs, etc) and it'll show up there. I'd like to do an 'Expert' level difficulty run through here tonight if we can get 4....anyone else?

If we can't get a server running it, i can host locally....

hahah, yea, but it's on a game to game basis.


as far as the new custom campaign teaks linked... it's pretty well done, aside from random spawn glitches and GREEN colored alarmed cars. think it took us about an hour to get through two to three whole stages on expert. So it felt like it was excruciatingly long, according to the clock it's about average.

Agent: you missed out on the awesomeness of that campaign. The first couple levels that you were in on are apparently the authors first attempts at level design. Well not bad, they are nothing compared to the later levels. This guy DEFINITELY needs a job at valve building new l4d content for them.

On the down side, the campaign has a few pathing issues here and there (we noticed the occasional zombie getting stuck) and the first time each level loads it tends to spawn each of the survivors in random places (subsequent spawns all worked and placed everyone in the starting safe room).

Very difficult campaign. Anyway, highly recommended for anyone who wants a bit of new content. Let me know if u need another player, I'm always game!

doesn't it come out in november? haha, i waste money alla round - it's not liek I pay for anything work related ;) I hate giving valve my moniez. sigh. ill puck it up tonight sometime

While browsing through my xbox today, found that they posted a new interview with a developer working on l4d2. Did about a 5 minute little deal on it. Looks REALLy rough yet but a couple things of note:

1) weapons so far pretty much the same...uzi and pump shottie, the various hand-helds already displayed, apparent tier 2's are another auto-shottie, an assault rifle (SCAR-L), and sniper (H&K93 w/ acog). They did however say that they're including incendiary ammo (special ammo, lights anything hit by it on fire)

2) they intro'd a new special, labeled a 'smasher' or something gay like that....looks like tank but with one exceptionally huge arm...grabbed a survivor and repeatedly beat him into the ground

3) at least one apparent reason for the engine switch: now can actually cause appendage damage that doesnt cause instant kill (i.e. can blow both arms off a zombie, still have it come at u and just try to bite/kick)

4) stated 5 campaigns at release, both single / vs. ready plus one new game mode as yet unreleased

Went looking for a web posting of the video, but couldnt find shit on MS's website, and youtube has a crapload of l4d2 stuff, but not sure what's legit...

that just sounds exhilarating.

also:
incendiary ammo is dumb. it's so, 'omg, bioshock and crysis have it. we should add it.' IRL, it doesn't light people on fire. it tends to either do nothing, EXPLODE soft targets, or just incinerate their insides. They will not be running around flailing after being shot by incendiary ammo. There is no stop drop and roll with this stuff. plus, from my understanding, it's it's far from standard equipment for anyone in the military.

however, i do like the New Orleans retool of the 'zombie horde music'

but being able to shoot off arms and still have the zombies attack brings up a certain question . . .are they undead or infected? if they still need stuff like . . . blood to live than shooting off arms should be a rather viable tactic.

they need to think about this stuff behind the scenes even if they never talk about it, just for consistency's sake.
