I'm not sure he should have been suspended for the entire season just for that punch, but apparently the team has had trouble with him in the past. Might have cost the kid his career and the team their season.

I laughed loudly when I saw that punch last night.

Especially because it happened right in front of the Boise coach and the guy who got hit got right back up with a really stupid grin on his face.

Good job Ohio State, your convincing defeat of Navy proved why your team deserves to be ranked 6th.

Amazing what happens when your first team you play against actually goes to bowl games and wins them huh? Other schools should follow by example. I doubt any other school ranked in the top 25 has an OOC schedule harder than OSU this year.

Either way a W is a W

How did I know that post would bring you back to the forum.

Anyway, Ohio State's super hard OOC schedule consists of USC and... thats it. Once they lose to the trojans they wont really get tested until they play Penn State (over rated).

Two tough games in one year, that is rough.

I'd also argue that Army, Navy and Notre Dame definitely have harder OOC schedules.

Actually I posted before the game even started.

And just because Navy isn't ranked doesn't mean they aren't good. They go to bowl games regularly, and the ones they don't win, they come close to beating them. (This includes decent Big12 teams).

And you missed the part where I was talking about OOC games.

Nah Notre Dame is the same difficulty. Their only challenges are the same ones we have (USC and Navy)

Navy only had to play us and Notre Dame.

Army has no one worth mentioning other than Navy.

No...

Navy
USC
Toledo
New Mexico State

THERE IS NONE HARDER

Also, you missed the part where Notre Dame/Army/Navy are independent so their entire schedules are OOC.

Anyway, the real point is Ohio State has two hard games USC and Penn State.

Amazing how all other Big10 teams are instantly dismissed. Should I say Texas and Missouri are the only Big12 teams worth a damn?

Please elaborate on Missouri

My point is, every year Ohio State is over rated and every year the Big ten sucks. Once in a while Ohio State or Michigan or Penn State will be good enough (in my opinion) to break the top 25. They still usually dont deserve the top10+ ranking that they usually get but because they never really play hard schedules they never get tested until they reach the bowl game.

I guess the real problem is the lack of a playoff (also discussed every year). If we had a playoff, the Big 10 schools would lose and the good schools would more clearly rise to the top.

If you want to argue conference strength then I'd rank the conferences like this

SEC
Big 12
Pac ten
ACC/Big 10
Big East
WAC
Conf USA/Sun Belt/Mountain West/MAC

I think if the Ohio State and say... Baylor swapped places, Ohio State would not be as consistently highly ranked as they are now. Same if you dropped OSU into the SEC. On the flip side, if you put Florida or Texas in the Big 10, they'd sweep it without breaking a sweat.

Whatever, bla bla bla playoffs. Thats my point.

They won the Big12 North, so they must be the only other team that could pose a challenge. Obviously it's not Oklahoma because they choke more than Ohio State does.

The Big 12 north was p bad last year. I think this year Missouri is p bad. I'd say Kansas and Nebraska are both better teams in that division this year.

The fact that you say the Pac10 is better invalidates your point. The only team worth there is USC. Oregon consistently lost both last year and this year to a non BCS opponent (Boise St.) that they should have beaten. Cal has a chance this year to make an impression, but it's still too early to tell.

If you're looking at bowl games as your proof, then you should look how the Big10 consistently:

A.) Plays against a home team in almost all their bowl games
b.) Plays against tougher competition than other conferences (i.e. #4 in the Big10 plays #2 in the other conference)

I came to that conclusion based on this...

Pac 10
USC - Always top notch. Usually on par with Florida/Texas/Oklahomo
Cal - Usually mediocre, sometimes pretty good
UCLA/Oregon - Usually overrated, almost always mediocre
Oregon State/Az State/Stanford - Usually bad, occassionally they have a good game/upset.
Washington/Wash State - pretty bad
Arizon - totally blows

Big 10
Penn State - They've been ok lately, I think they're usually overrated
Ohio State/Michigan - Maybe they were good a few years ago, pretty mediocre nowadays. Michigan usually worse than OSU.
Iowa - You never know, occassionally they're good, occassionally they're bad. Hard to tell. I think the Big 12/Big 10 would both be better conferences if they swapped Iowa and Iowa State.
Illinois/Wisconsin/Mich State - Always middle of the road
Indiana/Minnesota/Purdue - Suck

it's close, I guess I picked Pac 10 because USC is clearly the best team from either conference. After that its just a battle royal between mediocre teams who are occassionally good and crappy teams who are always bad.

If Sam Bradford did just break his shoulder I think Texas will probably win the Big 12.

But you can't pick conferences based solely off the top team. 2006 was the biggest proof of that. Yes Florida beat Ohio State, but the Big10 went 5-1 against the SEC that season. How exactly is the SEC a tougher conference when head to head, they got demolished?

My whole point of bringing that up was not to say the Big10 is better than the SEC this year (I know they aren't) It was just that you can't base a better conference just off of one team.

IMO it's actually Big12, SEC, Big10, Pac10, ACC, then the conferences that don't really matter.
