meh, Bawls has been around for years. I can't say i'm surprised at Wow and Mt Dew ripping it off.

p.s. the "Health" and "Mana" vials you'll see at fry's and stuff actually taste pretty nasty.

Hurray for bitchy professors.

I get my grade for a lab assignment back in my graphics communications class, which I got a 90 on. It says they took off 5 points for my typography choice. I emailed the professor and asked why since she said if we didn't change it we wouldn't lose points (the assignment was to modify a website she had already made). So she says the TA graded mine and she would regrade it for me.

I check my grade a few hours later and she gave me an 88, taking off 10 points for contrast instead of the 3 the TA did.

Thanks lady, you're a real help.

That will teach you for bringing up a meaningless point to the mighty professor.

i would grow that incident into a festering ball of hate I could unleash on the end of semester prof reviews.

never had to do that though, all my professors were real cool cats. even the one who gave me a D in that 5 hour summer italian course when i deserved a F.

hook 'em

Nobody gives a shit about professor reviews. Nobody. They make absolutely no difference. You might as well not waste your time with them, unless you can manage to defecate on one and slip it into the return envelope with nobody noticing.

Your college, like mine, might have an also-largely-meaningless procedure for challenging grades. I think I was the first person in my college's history to challenge a grade. They upheld my challenge, and then still gave me a lower grade than I deserved to make it more like a compromise. Wouldn't want to hurt Dr. Fuckhead's feelings.

Fuck higher education.

And don't forget, all of this costs everyone a LOT of money.

My school just introduced a new professor feedback system that includes a section for the teaching assistant.

I can't wait to see my reviews and I really hope I get some sort of student shitfit on paper. On the other hand, I am awesome and all the kids in my classes love me.

Will this affect how I "perform" my job? Nope, your review is meaningless. The ONLY time these things might come into play is when a prof is being considered for tenure, but they'd probably need a mountain of bad reviews for it to make a difference.

Nope. They're a formality.

Since they're anonymous, maybe if you accused a professor of sexual harassment or terroristic threats they could make a difference. But probably not.

This has been my mantra for as many years as it has been since I dropped out of community college to pursue a real job... My goal is to advise every single high-school graduate I come in contact with to don't bother with college, or if they already enrolled to drop out. EVERYONE on earth is telling them that they MUST engage in higher education... why? Fuck if I know.

"But you'll be passed over for promotion by people with degrees!" is a common whine from the folks with the school-loans who need to validate or justify their crushing debt. Well, I've never been passed over for a promotion. The only time I non-voluntarily left a job was when I was an active student. Go figure.

Anyways kids, drop out. Don't waste your time. Will Hunting said it best when he said "You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library."

What is your current salary?
$43,000 + 15% annual bonus + ~3.2% cost of living increase.

Whats yours?

I absolutely agree. I never went to college and have had some hard crazy jobs. Every job I have had after high school I was referred by a friend. The secret to success is make as many friends as you possibly can. Never leave on bad terms. Bust out the mop even if it isn't your job. Never lie about your abilities but say I will do what I can. Also live on much less than you make.
6 figure income - no college - zero debt

I will be taking a lot of time off for sure. A competitor asked me if I will be available for hire after January. The open sea is however the last place I want to take a vacation on rofl. I was thinking of taking my money out of the bank and finding a nice beach filled with women and cheap beer and lay around for awhile. I have heard you can live on 10 grand a year at some of these places.

I wouldn't tell kids that. First, not everyone will have the same abilities / circumstances / fortune as you when seeking their first job. Second, while a degree may not help them get a job, it certainly can't hurt. And be realistic, I'm sure there are other jobs you could have applied to where you would have been passed up for someone with a degree. Gay but true, especially in bigger companies. What if you had wanted one of those jobs? And then there are some fields where you absolutely have to have a degree (e.g. medicine or law), so what about kids who want to go into one of those fields? Also, some companies (like the one that hired me) increase your salary based on education. I'm making 53k in my first job, which as I understand it isn't too bad at all. I know that after that first hire, experience probably matters more than education, but again, it certainly can't hurt.

All that is to say, the system is in place and it's not going anywhere, so students have to weigh the benefits of an education versus the lost time and debt it can bring.

THAT said, the system is still bullshit. Students should also be fully aware that it is almost completely a waste of money and usually of time and that in almost every case, if an education is what they're after, they have to get it their own damned self. Most professors won't give a shit about them nor conferring any knowledge on them. Many times there's no rhyme nor reason to the process that eventually delivers the magical piece of career-bestowing paper to them. They, their parents, their fellow taxpayers, their creditors, and probably every living being on the planet dump money into this institution that somehow finds a way to waste almost all of it.

So my advice would probably be, go to college if you can. Give yourself the education.

I would say as long as you have an education goal. If you do not then going to college is a waste of time for you.

I only went back to school because of options with the stupid paper that says I can do the work I am currently doing. My real world experience is helping me coast through my classes, as well as the certification I have, but companies won't look at me without soemthing that says I have a 4 year degree.

Granted, I'm pretty fucking smart and there's alot of dumbasses out there. You can't see everything you need to from a piece of paper. Also they may think I'm lieing about my work history. Who knows. Good thing I have a mother in the same field that is trying to find me a job.
